Having retired from the active duty US Army after 20 years of service, I feel the need to say something about what is currently going on with the US Military. Just so everybody understands, I retired from the Army in early 2014 and I currently have no relationship with the US Military in any manner other than retirement pay and health care. Both of which will more than likely be in jeopardy if anybody in power reads this.
The new highly controversially and illegally appointed Secretary of Defense (SoD) is mandating a stand-down in the next 60 days for what he perceives as extremism. He is saying there is basically a white extremism problem in the military, then carefully adds political extremism without using the word political. I say illegally appointed as current US Code (or law) states somebody who separates from the US Military must wait for seven years before being appointed to a Secretary position. This is not an exact quote, a summary. This law was changed to allow just him to be nominated and appointed as SoD, which is another article all by itself. You can look it up on congress.com to find the bill for this, it is official record.
My time in the US Army wasn’t much different than others. I experienced racism on several different occasions, which adversely affected my career. I saw discriminatory practices on a daily basis. Most people are not going to believe this, but it’s true. As a married, Christian, white male, I experienced racism, heterosexual phobia, and anti-Christian practices every single day towards the end of my career. When I would point this out to senior military officers, they would actually scold me for saying anything. This attitude is what made me decide to separate from the Army before I really wanted to.
I enjoyed the perceived US Military mission as much as anybody else. I did have 54 months or 4 1/2 years of deployment time. You don’t have that much time deployed without enjoying the job. There are ways around being deployed and I saw many service members avoid deployments. Don’t tell me there isn’t a way, any experienced soldier can avoid a deployment if they’ve been paying attention to the Army way. But anyways, I digress, but I wanted everybody to understand my background and experience a little bit.
So racial extremism is gonna be rooted out of the US Military by this SoD in a forty-eight hour stand down. What will also be addressed is a service members viewpoint of January 6th, 2021 occurrences in the US Capital Building. While I agree with the racial extremism being addressed (just make sure equal attention is given to all racism and not just white power), I absolutely and adamantly disagree with the extremism (without a label) being addressed by the Chain of Command (CoC).
The DoD (Department of Defense) provided instructions in 2012 that prohibits extremist activities, but doesn’t really define extremism. So, company commanders are going to have to determine how they feel extremism is defined in the provided guidelines. This leads to the potential problem of having multiple commanders having different ideas on what extremism is. It could and should be racism, discriminatory practices based on religion, or sexuality (homosexual and heterosexual). It should never be a vaguely defined term such as being extreme.
Is the SoD starting to purge the US Military of anybody that doesn’t have the same political ideology as him? Are registered Republicans going to start to be chaptered out (kicked out) of the military? Is the military going to end up with only service members who are registered Democrats? What happens when that Democrat doesn’t lean far enough towards Communism? Will they also be considered extreme? Who actually defines this extremism? Where are the guidelines? Is Communism considered extreme or the norm?
This slope is so slippery I believe it is slipper then the Baghdad Banana Bridge. Just ask any service member who was in Baghdad in 2003 and 2004 that attempted to cross the Banana Bridge how slippery it is. The pre-WWII German Wehrmacht (Military) was not allowed to vote. Senior commanders where not allowed to think for themselves and where given commands based on political viewpoints. I don’t know much Italian history, but I bet something similar was done. Look at how the Soviet Union’s Army has been used through out its history. Pick any one of the dictatorships in Central and South America as well as in Africa and Asia. Those in political control, appoint friends and family in the military to control the military. They are appointed on the basis of having the same political ideology.
When you take start looking at a bigger picture and the historical picture, you should really become concerned. Nancy Pelosi (through the Capital Police) wants to build a permeant fence around the US Capital Building, a long term presence of US Military members in the National Guard deployed (can you be deployed in your own country, just wondering) to the US Capital Building, and the up coming purging of dissenting political viewpoints in the Active Duty Military. The attempt to pass laws to control media and technological companies to ensure only one message is heard by everybody. The message that the police are the enemy of the people (I believe this is in preparation to replace the police with the military). And there is more, I don’t have the room to list them all.
The common term used when explaining their actions is extremism. Some questions I have are, who is defining extremism? What is happening to service members who are decided is extreme? How are the extreme service members being discovered? Is it due to a FaceBook post? Is it because they re-Tweeted something somebody else Tweeted? Did they say something to somebody? Did they do something to somebody? Is there going to be a secret extreme police spying on our military?
The Bible talks about how bad it is gonna become during the end of times. Ladies and Gentlemen, while it isn’t bad yet, it is starting. In my viewpoint, it is only going to get worse and worse. Everybody should consider doing the prepper thing. Have stock piles of food, water, medical supplies, weapons, and ammunition. Be physically and mentally ready to survive on your own for a while and be ready to join up with others to survive.
